I'm glad you made this

I'm glad you chose to make a flash about this. There isn't nearly enough awareness right now about the dangers of the rare man eating space pelican and it's good to know that someone is actually doing something about it. They say half of all astronaut deaths can be attributed to this avian monstrosity and it is possibly the number one obstacle in our quest for lunar colonization. (seriously though, very funny, nice job).

Neo-uk responds:

Exactly, we can't continue the human species until we deal with this problem. :P

well what to say

I just want to say that your work shows an immense ammount of talent, but the quality of the animation shifts heavily from scene to scene. At some points it's extremely good and at others it's just average (of course when compared to the "average" newgrounder it was all phenominal). The frames were a bit awkward at several points, which really took away from the flow of it. At other times the anatomy was a little off, or undefined. Normally this wouldn't be a huge problem, but since your overall drawing skills are of a higher quality than most, any real drop in that quality seems more noticable. Your background skills are great, but it would have been nice to see more of them.

Another thing I noticed was that your faces felt a bit awkward during close up shots, although that wasn't as pronounced in that last fight scene. In fact everything about that last scene was great, so I'm guessing it was your most recent work. The lack of a plot did hurt the animation, since the rapid shift in the tone, pace and quality made it hard to appreciate the work as a whole. Of course that's the nature of a demo real, but I'm just trying to speculate as to why you didn't get something closer to a 4.5. I honestly think the music choice was pretty bad, since it made the camera feel even more jerky and made me think my computer was broken for a minute. The biggest think I think you could improve would be your frame pacing and your faces. Also your muscle detail felt a little flat, but your anatomical outlining was great. I also think a lot of the animation could have been cut out, since some of it really only brought down the rest. Sorry to go on so long, just little observations. anyway, great job and good luck. 5/5 9/10

JazLyte responds:

Hahaha yeah, I know, there's alot of my old work sprinkled in there because I wasn't too productive last year, so some stuff isn't the real deal. As for the timing and frames, I suspect it has something to do with the way I converted the cartoons to video. MagicSwf2Avi is what I used to use, it flawlessly turns flash to crispy video, but this time I just recorded the screen with Camtasia, resulting in some shitty playback. But you are quite observant, thanks for the good review, I will keep the advice in mind =)

hilarious

this is too funny, great animation, great timing and great punchline. I hate how so many people bitch about the length of shorts, they're called "short films" for a reason, it's not like a flash has to be ten minutes long to be awesome. Anyhow, Great job!

Neo-uk responds:

Thanks! :)

well it's pretty bad but

Being totally honest here, you seem to have a knack for sprite animation. I know there's barely even enough content to analyze here, but the timing of the movement and the choices of sprites used was pretty good. It's still pointless and short, but I think I actually see some potential here. Next time put a lot more effort into it and I think you might be able to make something pretty cool

Omnikiller responds:

thank you i will show my potential. this were very short and have far better ones on the way. i was bored when i made it. lol

I dunno

maybe my funny bone is broken, but this isn't all that funny to me. The voice acting felt a little forced (mostly from the black guy). I mean I can here you laughing over the microphone. It's not horrible, but for every funny line there's something thrown in that takes away from the humor. I did laugh at that "get to the front of the bus" though.

very creative

it's nice to see something as inventive as this is being poseted. How you guys manage to get your animation so smooth is completely beyond me, but it's awesome nonetheless. Nice work

M-Shack responds:

a lot of hard work and effort from everyone

pretty good

I can tell a lot of work went into this, as it really shows through. However, there are several things that hold it back. For one, if you learned to draw human anatomy a bit better, it would really improve the overall quality of your work. Secondly, you should possibly get rid of or at least improve the dialogue and voice acting, because to me it really only took away from the experience. The flash itself is well animated enough to be taken as a serious science fiction piece, but your dialogue only serves to take away from the experience, and since it's not really funny either, it's really only hurts more than it helps. I enjoyed your backgrounds quite a bit, as they were probably the highlight of your work. All in all, it's a good effort, and I think that earns you a solid seven.

I have a soft spot for this sort of thing

as a fellow jrpg geek, I must say that these sorts of animations do tend to strike a chord with me. I liked the horse enemy and some of the animation and special effects were pretty decent. Still though, I can't give it too high a score because the artwork and execution could be a lot better and the timing is awkward at points. Still though, this shows potential, good luck!
